Beachfront condos and other homes close to Hueneme Beach Park, the city’s beach park at Surfside Drive and Ventura Road. Walking paths there run between the flag plazas, a gazebo and the lighthouse, and the Port Hueneme Pier, first built in 1956, reaches well out past the surf.

Bubbling Springs Park and the corridor
Streets around Bubbling Springs Park, a 21-acre city park at Bard Road and Park Avenue with ball fields, picnic areas, two dog parks and a path with workout stations. A landscaped trail along the drainage channel, the Bubbling Springs Recreation Corridor, links the park to Hueneme Beach Park. Near the channel, read the flood note further down.

Parks and landmarks around town
Moranda Park, off Moranda Parkway, is an 8-acre city park set up for active use, with ten pickleball courts. On North Market Street, a 1925 building that later served as the first City Hall now holds the Port Hueneme Historical Museum, a Ventura County landmark, and tiny Dewar Park sits at Scott and Market.

For a home close to the sand, the city explains that the Army Corps of Engineers has historically dredged Channel Islands Harbor and placed that sand on Hueneme Beach every two years. The city’s beach erosion page carries the latest update.

The city describes its housing as beachfront condominiums, detached houses and low-rise apartments, and many homes sit inside a homeowners association or a planned development. The area cards and the popular searches let you narrow it to condos, townhomes, houses or single-story homes.
2. What should I read before buying a condo or townhome with an HOA?
The HOA’s covenants, conditions and restrictions, its current budget, the reserve study if there is one and recent board minutes. Together they tell you the rules, what the dues cover and whether big repairs are coming. Read them before your contingencies end, and I will go through them with you.
3. Is Port Hueneme its own city?
Yes. Port Hueneme is a separate city just south of Oxnard and Channel Islands Harbor, with its own city hall, planning division and beach park. The city pronounces its name “Why-nee-mee.” Permits and zoning questions for a Port Hueneme address go to the City of Port Hueneme, not Oxnard.
4. Is Port Hueneme in a flood or fire hazard zone?
The city reports that FEMA maps its homes as shaded Zone X, a moderate flood hazard area, and the Ventura County Fire Department states there are no local responsibility area fire hazard severity zones in the city. Maps get updated, so check the exact address with the links in the address check section before you write an offer.
