Big Sky at a glance

  • North of the 118: The Big Sky homes for sale in Simi Valley shown here fall inside an outline along Lost Canyons Drive, from the north end of Erringer Road. OpenStreetMap labels neighborhoods in it Castlewood, Crosspointe, Windstone, Tioga and Highlands at Big Sky.
  • City land, ZIP 93065: The Census geocoder places every sample point here inside the City of Simi Valley and ZIP 93065. See 93065 homes for sale.
  • A specific plan area: The City’s May 2026 Lost Canyons addendum says the Whiteface Specific Plan, adopted in 1992, allowed 847 homes in its Sand Canyon/Big Sky Ranch area, and about 738 had been built as of that report.
  • A trail through it: The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District lists the Big Sky Trail north of the 118, most often entered from Erringer Road or Lost Canyons Drive.

How Big Sky Ranch was planned

In 1999 the City circulated a draft environmental review for Big Sky Ranch: a proposal to subdivide the site for 648 detached homes, 21 estate homes and 265 attached homes, with Madera Road built across the site and Erringer Road extended north to meet it. Census road maps today show Madera Road ending more than a mile west of the outline. Ask the City’s Planning Division which tract map and conditions apply to a lot.

Next door: the Lost Canyons approval

A Notice of Determination the City filed with the State Clearinghouse lists the Lost Canyons project as approved on August 10, 2026. As the City describes it, 362 lots would cluster north of Lost Canyons Drive, where the Shadow Canyon Golf Course operated, with a private recreation building and public trails instead of a new course. Its May 2026 addendum puts the nearest homes, in Glenmeadow, about 150 feet west of the site, expects construction to begin in 2026, and limits heavily loaded construction trucks to Tapo Canyon Road and Lost Canyons Drive. Track the build under new construction in Simi Valley.
