Oralia’s Bakery in Oxnard: Go Early, They Sell Out

If you live in Oxnard, or anywhere close to it, you need to try Oralia’s Bakery on Wooley Road. One piece of advice before you go: get there early. They run out of the good stuff quick, and by mid morning the trays start looking empty.

I found Oralia’s the way half of Oxnard probably did, through their Instagram. Their account is very active, always posting videos of fresh pan dulce coming out of the oven, and every video looks better than the last. After about the third one showed up on my feed I stopped scrolling and drove over.

Oralia’s is a true panaderia. Fresh bread, a case full of pastries, and a lineup that depends on when you walk in. That is part of the charm. You are not ordering off a fixed menu, you are picking from whatever came out of the oven that morning. I went with a frosted roll topped with banana and crushed nuts, and it did not survive the parking lot.

Oralia’s sits at 942 on Wooley Road in Oxnard. Look for the white building with the red letters and the coffee cup sign. Go in the morning, and do not overthink your order. Whatever they still have in the case is the right answer.
